Dean Road and Manor Road Cemetery is a great place to learn about history, nature, art and the environment, as well as being an oasis of calm in the centre of Scarborough. This pack gives some ideas for activities in the Cemetery to help you to find out more about the lives of people remembered here, and to appreciate this very special spot.
The Friends of Dean Road and Manor Road Cemetery are pleased to welcome people into the cemetery to enjoy its peaceful paths, lovely carvings and fabulous trees and wildlife. With the help of the Heritage Lottery Fund we have restored the Mortuary and Secret Garden, which we hope you will explore. Follow the robin markers from the Mortuary to find the Secret Garden and experience this truly unique place.
Our Education Pack has been designed to link with Primary School National Curriculum (Key Stages 1 and 2) There are teachers’ notes and worksheets based on the cemetery. They can also be used by families for activities in the cemetery which enable young people to appreciate this wonderful open space. The Education Pack is funded by Heritage Lottery Fund.
