Biographical Information

Born at 6 Sussex Street in Scarborough,Son of Thomas B. Sails(bricklayer) and Sarah
Baptised 3rd February 1887, St Marys Parish Church
Attended Central Board School Enlisted for service in South Africa in 1900 Returned to England 1902
Joseph married Ann Gosling in 1905. The 1911 census lists Joseph as a Boarding House Porter, living at 108 Nelson Street, Scarborough, with a daughter Frances and son Alan. He enlisted for WW1 in Middlesbrough where he had been working for the N.E. Railway and was killed in action in the Maurepas sector
