Locate Graves
If you are trying to locate a family grave, in the first instance contact the friends as we may be able to trace the grave if it has a headstone. If this is not successful, you will need to contact the Cemetery Superintendent on [email protected] with the person’s name and relevant dates. You will be given the section letter, row and grave numbers. (a charge may be made for this by the bereavement services office).
If you are unable to visit the cemetery, for a suggested donation of £10.00, the Friends group will photograph the grave and surroundings, transcribe the inscription and send them to you by post or email. Contact us with as much information as possible, including the person’s full name, plot location and date of death. We’d love to hear the story of the person you’re looking for as part of our long term plans for uncovering and sharing the history in the cemetery.
Cemetery Talks and Guided Walks
We regularly give talks to local community groups and can offer guided walks through the cemetery. Contact us if you’d like to find out more.
Tidy Grave Scheme
For an annual payment of £25 per year we will keep your family grave tidy and weed free. Contact us, giving details of your grave, if you’re interested in this service.
Transferring Family Plots
If you have family members buried in the cemetery but do not own the plot yourself, it may be possible to transfer ownership. This would mean that you would be able to restore the headstone if you wanted to, and may be able to arrange additional burials, space permitting. For more information contact:-
