He was a scout with the 4th Scarborough Troop (Holy Trinity) and is remembered on the Scout National Roll of Honour.


Biographical Information

Sidney was born is Scarborough, the son of John Richard and Mary Jane Tucker, of 44 Tennyson Avenue. On 4/5/1917 the Scarborough Mercury reported Private Tucker’s death as follows:-
An official intimation has reached his mother that Private Sidney Tucker of 44 Tennyson Avenue has died at a casualty clearing station in France of gunshot wounds.
Private Tucker was 21, being 19 when he joined. He was formerly employed by Mr Geo. Dove hairdresser, Hanover Road.
A brother who was invalided out of the army died about a year ago and a third brother joins up very shortly.
Their father Mr John Richard Tucker is at present in Ripon. Mrs Tucker is a well known worker at St Sepulchre Street Chapel and two daughters are members of the choir.
Private Tucker was in the Yorkshire Regiment and was single.
