Biographical Information
Richard was born in Scarborough, son of George and Hannah of 8 Wrea Street. He married Harriet, and lived at 57 Trafalgar Road. Richard joined the National Reserve at the outbreak of war and was called up in May 1915. In 1916 he was despatched to Egypt, where he contracted dysentery. He was evacuated to a hospital in Weymouth, where he died, less than two weeks after his younger brother Edward died on the Somme. Richard was buried in Manor Road cemetery on 25/10/1916.
