Biographical Information

Edward was born in Scarborough, son of George, a stonemason, and Hannah, of 8 Wrea Street. He was the fifth of eight children. In the 1901 census Edward was listed as an apprentice joiner. He enlisted in 1915, when he was married and had a daughter. He landed in France on 27/9/1915 and took part in the Somme offensive. He was killed in the fighting for Le Sars, and his body was never found. His brother Richard was also killed in WW1.
