MOORE, Percy
Biographical Information
Percy Moore was born in the first quarter of 1895 the son of Abraham and Amelia Moore. According to the 1901 census he was one of five children and the family then lived at 1, Stepney Road, there was also a servant, Edith Moakes. Percy was then 6 years old and described as a schoolboy. He attended Gladstone Road School.
At the time of the 1911 census Percy was 16 years old and still described as a schoolboy (which school he was attending at that time is unknown). The family were still living in Stepney Road.
Percy enlisted in the East Yorkshire Regiment 12th Battalion and saw action on the Western Front where he was seriously injured and on May the 3rd 1917 he died as a result of those injuries.
Percy is interred in Aubigny Communal Cemetery Extension Ref V1.E.16. He is also commemorated on the plaque in Gladstone Road School hall. The family grave in Dean Road Cemetery ref EB 47 has the inscription “Also of 2nd Lieu. Percy Moore son of the above who died of wounds received in action and was buried at Aubigny France May 5th 1917 aged 22 years”.
