Biographical Information

Harry was born in Scarborough, son of Thomas Henry and Mary Elizabeth of 41 Melrose Street. The Scarborough Mercury reported on 3/3/1916 “The parents of Private Harry McBean, 10th Yorkshire, of 41 Victoria Street Scarborough, have been officially informed that their son has been killed in action. A few days ago they had the news unofficially and this unfortunately has been confirmed. He was 21 years old and unmarried. Private McBean served his time with Mr Williams, hairdresser, Castle Road. Mr Thomas Henry McBean, Private McBean’s father, is a joiner, and has been working on the military huts in Richmond”
Harry’s brother, John Robert, was also killed in action.
