Biographical Information

Edward Marshall Knox was born in the first quarter of 1887 in Brompton the son of Gibson and Annie E Knox. He was baptised on 13/03 /1887 at the Anglican Church in Brompton by Sawdon. He first appears on the 1891 census aged 4 living at Hungate, Brompton , Scarborough.

In the first quarter of 1916 Edward Marshall Knox married France’s M Cockerill in Scarborough.

He joined the Royal Fusiliers City of London Regiment and was killed in action on 27/08/1918 and was interred in Bronfay Farm Military Cemetery, Bray-Sur-Somme. Ref 11.F.56. He is also commemorated on Oliver’s Mount War Memorial and in Manor Road Cemetery section L. At the time of his death Edwards wife was living at 2, Londesborough Road.
