Biographical Information

Herbert was the son of Jessie and the late Thomas King, who had lived at 3 Avenue Road Scarborough. His father, a tailor, had died 5 years before Herbert’s death and Mrs King had moved to Leeds. Herbert was educated at the National School and at St Martin’s Grammar School before attending the Yorkshire College at Leeds where he received his B.Sc. and later his M.SC. He held appointments at Dronfield Derbyshire, Harrogate and St Martin’s Grammar School before taking charge of the chemistry department at the municipal School. He was looking the Borough Analyst. He was killed in action on 6/10/17 aged 41.
