Biographical Information

Thomas Kelly was born in Scarborough on 14/06/1897 the second son of Richard Kelly and his wife Ellinor.

He was baptised on July the 9th 1897 at All Saints Church in Falsgrave.

He appears in the 1901 census at which time the family were living at 101, North Marine Road.Richard, a master painter and house decorator, his wife Ellinor and their three sons, Arthur, 5, Thomas,3 and Richard E born in 1901. There was also a visitor in the house that night, Hannah Baker who was a professional nurse.

By the 1911 census the family had moved to 10, Aberdeen Walk. The boys were all still at school. The family also employed Ada Hidson as a general domestic.

In the third quarter of 1916 Thomas married Louisa M Nicholson in Scarborough.

Thomas enlisted in Scarborough joining the Royal Garrison Artillery. His duty location was France and Flanders and he was killed in action on 01/09/1918.

He was interred at Tigris Lane Cemetery Wancourt ref 1.D.15 and is also commemorated on Oliver’s Mount War Memorial and in Manor Road Cemetery.
