Biographical Information

Robert J Jude was born in Scarborough in 1890 the son of Robert and Jane A Jude. He first appears on the census of 1891. The family were living at 18, Providence Place. Robert ( Senior) was working as a labourer/
Gas stoker. Also in the house , his wife Jane, eldest son John,14, George,9, Elizabeth,7, Richard,5 and Robert, 1. There was also a lodger, Elizabeth Cook aged 66, a dressmaker.
By 1901 the family had moved to 14, Atlas Place. Jane by then a widow headed the household. Three of the boys were working,
Elizabeth was still at home and Robert was 12. There was no lodger.
In 1911 Jane was still head of the house, Robert at 22 worked as Butchers Assistant.
Robert enlisted in Pocklington in the Army Service Corps UK. In the listing of soldiers who died in the Great War his theatre of was given as Home. He died on the 7/05/1915 and his place of death was given as Home. He is remembered in Manor Road Cemetery.
