INCHBOLD, John William
Biographical Information
John was born in 1879 in Scarborough, eldest son of the late David Inchbold and Annie Inchbold and at the 1911 census he lived at 1 Brook Street. He was foreman for Messrs Foster and Coverdale, mineral water makers. He married Ellen and had two surviving daughters. CWGC records shows wife, Gertrude Eleanor Inchbald of 8 Austin Friars, Filey Road, Scarborough. He also served in the South African Campaign.

In loving memory of my dear husband. Princess of Wales Own Yorkshire Regiment. Died of wounds received in action at Vimy Ridge France April 22 1917 aged 37 years. May his reward be as great as his sacrifice. Also of Gertrude Eleanor eldest daughter of the above who died August 28 1910 aged 4 years and 5 months.
And of Doris, youngest daughter died in infancy.
