Biographical Information
George was the son of Elizabeth and William, a weaving overseer. He served in the army before the war and re-enlisted in July 1914. He married Emily Peacock and lived at 19a Scalby Road.
He fought in the Battle of St Julien, Ypres in 1915 and was wounded and evacuated to England via 18th General Hospital, France. He returned to France where he was killed in action aged 32. His widow died 11/9/1923 aged 34.
Thomas Peacock, his cousin, also died in WW1 and is commemorated on the same headstone.
