CALVERT, William
Biographical Information
Born in Redhill, Reigate, Surrey in 1891. Son of Fred (a policemen from Brompton) and Rosa Calvert living at 12 Coleridge Road, Finchley in 1901 census, with siblings Rose 8, Mary 6, Ellen 4, Fred 2. In 1911 census the family had moved to 19 Park Road, Falsgrave where Rosa was a laundress and William a grocery man. At the time of William’s death his mother was a widow living at 20 Park Road, Scarborough.

In loving memory of/FRED CALVERT/dearly beloved husband of/ ROSA CALVERT/died April 17th 1916/aged 52 years/at rest/also Sergt WILLIAM CALVERT/ 13th Durham L Infantry/dearly beloved only son of the above/killed in action July 18th 1916/aged 24 years/somewhere in France a boy but a brave one/laid down his life that his dear ones might live/oh God for such heroes we give thee the glory in the name of thine own son our dear one receive/also to the memory of/a dear mother to the above/ROSA CALVERT/who died September 13th 1951/aged 85 years/Reunited.
