Biographical Information
Albert Victor Brackenbury was born on 25/05/1894 and registered in the third quarter of 1894. He was born in Burgh Castle Suffolk and lived at 94, Belton Road according to the 1901 census. His father William was then 52 and his mother Hannah was 54. William the eldest son then aged 21 was also a fisherman. Frederick 15, Walter12, George 9 and Albert 6 were not working.
The 1911 census shows William at 62 still working as a fisherman. Of the five boys only two appear on the census, George 19, a fisherman and Albert Victor, a labourer. The family were still in Suffolk.
During the was Albert Victor was in the Royal Naval Reserve and served aboard the steam trawler Principal as a deck hand.
In the first Quarter of 1917 Albert married Lizzie Pricilla Cape in Scarborough.
He died on the 25/11/1918. In the naval casualties list the cause of death reads “ Died from Disease” and gives Lizzie P as the relative notified, the address was 8, Friars Entry Scarborough. In the “Deaths at sea” register it states that Albert Victor Brackenbury died in the Royal Naval Hospital in Leith , from pneumonia.
There is a registration of a birth in Scarborough in the third quarter of 1919 of a child Albert Victor Brackenbury and the mothers maiden name was Cape.
Albert Victor is commemorated on his in- laws grave in Dean Road Cemetery ref E 316.
